Snow Plant, (Sarcodes sanguinea)
The Snow Plant is a Saprophytic herb which blooms in May-July
from
Baja California north to Oregon and east to Nevada in the high
Coniferous forests above 4,000'. It is a member of the huckleberry
and blueberry family but it lacks chlorophyll. It secures its
food
from decaying organic matter in the soil. It is a beautiful treasure
to find.
