
Crimson Columbine, (Aquilegia formosa)
Their range is in
coniferous forests up to 10,500' from California
north to Alaska & east to Utah. They come in red, yellow,
blue &
white depending on the species. The Blue Columbine is the state
flower
of Colorado. The Indians used the flower for many medical remedies
and the leaves can be eaten as a salad green or cooked vegetable.
